Age Discrimination in Employment Act
This law prohibits discrimination against older workers.
American with Disabilities Act
This law prohibits private employers, state and local governments, employment agencies and labor unions from discriminating against qualified individuals with disabilities.
COBRA
This law requires most employers to offer group health continuation coverage rights to persons whose insurance would otherwise end due to a "qualifying event."
Consumer Credit Protection Act
This law prohibits judgement creditors form taking more than 25% of your net earnings through a wage garnishment to satisfy a debt.
Contract Work Hours and Safety Standards

This law requires businesses holding government contracts of $25,000 or more to establish drug education and awareness programs for their workers in an effort to maintain a drug-free workplace.

This law regulates the use of lie detector and other types of electronic “honesty tests” as a condition of hiring or as a basis for employment decisions.
Employee Retirement Income Security Act
This law is designed to protect the rights of employees and the security of their retirement benefits.

Fair Labor Standards Act
This law defines the 40-hour workweek, covers the federal minimum wage, sets requirements for overtime and recordkeeping, and places restrictions on child labor.
Family and Medical Leave Act

This law protects the health coverage of people who switch from one job to another or who leave their jobs without taking another job.

This law prohibits the employment of illegal aliens and requires employers to verify the legal status and right to work of all new hires.
McNamara-O’Hara Service Contract Act
This law establishes standards for minimum compensation, fringe benefits, safety and health protection of employees performing work for contractors and subcontractors on service contracts in excess of $2,500.
National Labor Relations Act
This law encourages the practice of collective bargaining by protecting workers’ freedom of association and self-organization.
Occupational Safety and Health Act
This law requires employers to maintain a workplace that is free of hazards.
Rehabilitation Act
This law is designed to promote the employment of otherwise qualified but handicapped individuals and to prevent discrimination against them.
Title VII of the Civil Rights Act
This law prohibits employers from discriminating against any job applicant or employee on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.
USERRA
This law prohibits discrimination against persons on their service in any uniformed service and applies to public and private employers.
VEVRAA
This law requires federal government contractors and subcontractors to take affirmative action to employ and to advance in employment qualified disabled war veterans, including Vietnam-era veterans.
Walsh-Healey Public Contracts Act
This law requires the payment of minimum wages and overtime to employees who work for companies with government contracts exceeding $10,000.
