Closing the Interview
  • Thank the applicant for taking the time to come in and find out about the job.
  • Ask the applicant if there is anything else he/she would like to tell you about themselves related to being qualified for the job.
  • Be sure each applicant has read, understood, and signed:
    • Application form
    • Medical Examination/Drug (Alcohol) Test Acknowledgement form (if applicable)
    • Job Description Acknowledgement form
  • Review references to be sure you can read the names, addresses, dates of employment, telephone numbers, etc.
  • Determine when the applicant would be available for work.
  • If there is time, tour the facilities and work area.
  • Provide the applicant with information about when a decision will be made regarding a job offer.
  • Be sure you know where/how to contact the applicant.
  • Ask the applicant if he/she has any other questions about the job or working for the company.
  • If the interviewer does decide to make a conditional job offer on the spot, the applicant should be given time to think it over before making a final commitment.
